During the enforcement operations week from June 28 to July 4, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona filed immigration-related criminal charges against 114 individuals. The cases include 60 instances of illegal re-entry into the United States and charges against 45 individuals for illegal entry. Additionally, seven cases were filed against eight individuals accused of smuggling illegal aliens within the District of Arizona. One individual was charged with assaulting a Customs and Border Protection Officer.

Federal law enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) supported these cases.

Significant cases include:

United States v. Marselino Garcia-Gonzalez: On June 27, 2025, Border Patrol Agents attempted to stop Marselino Garcia-Gonzalez on Arizona Highway 93. Garcia-Gonzalez did not yield and fled at over 106 miles per hour before stopping in the median. He and two passengers ran across the highway but were apprehended. The passengers were Mexican citizens illegally in the U.S., one being an unaccompanied 14-year-old male. Garcia-Gonzalez faces charges for Transportation of an Illegal Alien.

United States v. Victor Adolfo Zepeda-Arreola: On July 1, 2025, Victor Adolfo Zepeda-Arreola was charged with Re-entry of a Removed Alien after being previously deported in 2023 following a felony conviction for Attempted Burglary in Pima County.

The criminal complaints are formal charges that do not imply guilt; all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt by a jury.

These actions are part of Operation Take Back America, which utilizes resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and transnational crime while protecting communities from violent offenders.
