During the week of September 6 to September 12, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 215 individuals with immigration-related crimes. According to federal prosecutors, 99 cases involved illegal re-entry into the United States and another 99 involved illegal entry. In addition, authorities filed charges against 16 people in 14 cases for smuggling undocumented immigrants within Arizona. One person was also charged with assaulting a federal officer.
The enforcement actions were supported by several federal agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Several recent cases were highlighted by the office:
In United States v. Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez, et al., on September 10, Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez and Shay Nicole Fernandez were charged with Transportation of an Illegal Alien after being stopped by a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy for traffic violations. The deputy noticed an individual in camouflage lying on the floorboard in the back seat. U.S. Border Patrol agents determined that this passenger was a Mexican citizen illegally present in the country.
In United States v. Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos, on September 11, Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos—a Mexican national who had been ordered removed from the U.S.—was charged with Assault on a Federal Officer after allegedly fleeing ICE officers and ramming their vehicles during attempts to apprehend him.
Another case involved Jose Eulice Arredondo-Duran, who was charged on September 8 with Re-entry of a Removed Alien following his prior removal after felony drug convictions in Nevada.
These prosecutions are part of Operation Take Back America—an initiative using resources from multiple Department of Justice programs to combat illegal immigration and organized crime networks.
“A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
