Junn Alan Quinto Coleman, a 35-year-old resident of Phoenix, was sentenced to 18 years in prison following his guilty plea to Hobbs Act Robbery and discharging a firearm during a violent crime. The sentencing took place on September 22 before United States District Judge Sharad H. Desai.
The incident occurred on January 2, 2024, when Coleman and an accomplice robbed the Phoenix Soles streetwear store located on Central Avenue in Phoenix. During the robbery, Coleman threatened those inside with a firearm, pistol-whipped one man, and shot him in the shoulder. Cash, merchandise, and jewelry were stolen during the crime. Authorities from the FBI and Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) identified Coleman using his facial tattoos.
“This case is a prime example of multiple agencies working together to curtail violent crime in our community,” said United States Attorney Timothy Courchaine. “We are grateful for the work of the Phoenix Police Department, FBI, and Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry in quickly identifying the shooter and bringing him to justice.”
The investigation was led by the Phoenix Police Department, FBI’s Phoenix Division, and ADCRR. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Chapman prosecuted the case.
The prosecution was conducted under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that coordinates law enforcement at all levels to reduce violent crime locally. The Department of Justice revitalized PSN in 2017 as part of its focus on targeting violent offenders by fostering collaboration between federal, state, local, tribal authorities, and communities.
