Eric T. Benson, a resident of Goodyear, Arizona, has filed a lawsuit against Morning Law Group, PC, alleging fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract. The complaint was lodged in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona on December 4, 2025. Benson accuses the California-based debt-relief law firm of failing to deliver on promises to improve his financial situation and protect him from creditor actions.

According to the complaint, Benson was financially stable with a strong credit score in late 2024 when he began receiving unsolicited offers from Morning Law Group. The firm promised to eliminate his debts within two years and improve his credit profile significantly. Trusting these assurances, Benson entered into a contract with the firm in November 2024, agreeing to pay $210 monthly for their services. However, despite making timely payments for about a year, Benson claims that Morning Law Group failed to negotiate any settlements or provide meaningful legal representation.

Benson’s lawsuit details how Morning Law Group allegedly misled him into believing they were actively working on resolving his debts while providing no actual progress or communication with creditors. He asserts that the firm’s failure resulted in increased debt balances and a decline in his credit score from approximately 650 FICO to below 600 FICO. This deterioration affected his ability to secure financing options like a solar loan he had previously qualified for.

The plaintiff further alleges that despite assurances of protection from legal action, he was sued by two creditors during his enrollment in the program. He claims that Morning Law Group did not provide substantive legal defense or advice and merely filed continuances without engaging in settlement efforts. As a result of these alleged failures, Benson’s financial condition worsened significantly.

Benson is seeking several forms of relief from the court: declarations that Morning Law Group’s practices are unlawful under various statutes including the Arizona Credit Repair Organization Act and the Credit Repair Organizations Act; actual and punitive damages; costs and reasonable attorney fees; and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Eric T. Benson is Marwan R. Daher of Justice Consumer Law, LLC based in Orland Park, Illinois. The case is presided over by Judge DJH under Case ID 2:25-cv-04518-DJH.
