In a recent court filing, three former employees of Story Companies LLC, doing business as Story Cannabis, have initiated a lawsuit against the company and its associated entities. The plaintiffs, Samantha Cooley, Monet Johnson, and Ashley Wooten, allege that the defendants failed to pay wages in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and various state laws. The lawsuit claims that Story Cannabis unlawfully included supervisors in their mandatory tip pool and used tips to cover cash register shortages. This collective action seeks compensation for unpaid tips and damages under federal and state laws.

The case was filed on October 29, 2025, in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Plaintiffs are represented by attorneys from Martin & Bonnett P.L.L.C. and McGillivary Steele Elkin LLP.
