Jon Christian Schacht, a 37-year-old resident of Tucson, has been sentenced to six years in prison by United States District Judge John C. Hinderaker. The sentencing on July 14 follows Schacht’s guilty plea to charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit. He received concurrent sentences of 72 months and 24 months for the respective charges.

Schacht was found to have managed an alien smuggling organization in southern Arizona. His role involved personally transporting illegal aliens and coordinating their further transportation into the United States.

In addition to the smuggling activities, Schacht was implicated in a drug conspiracy involving the transportation of 42 kilograms of fentanyl from Tucson to Phoenix.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Border Patrol, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Cavanaugh from the District of Arizona in Tucson handled the prosecution.
