During the week of November 8 to November 14, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 184 individuals with immigration-related offenses. Of these, 107 cases involved illegal re-entry into the United States and 67 cases involved illegal entry. Nine additional cases were filed against individuals accused of smuggling people into or within Arizona. One person was also charged with assaulting a Border Patrol agent.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office worked in coordination with several federal law enforcement agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Among recent notable cases is United States v. Martin Diego Ramirez-Granillo. On November 12, Ramirez-Granillo was charged by complaint with transportation of an illegal alien and reentry after removal. He was stopped by an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper who suspected human smuggling and contacted Border Patrol for assistance. Both Ramirez-Granillo and his passenger were found to be Mexican citizens illegally present in the United States, and he had previously been removed from the country.

Another case is United States v. Anthony Shawn Hobbs. On November 13, Hobbs was charged with transporting illegal aliens for profit after being seen driving a vehicle on State Route 82 with multiple occupants in both the cabin and trunk area. Four undocumented immigrants were discovered during a traffic stop by Border Patrol agents.

These prosecutions are part of Operation Take Back America, which is described as “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.” The operation integrates resources from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

“A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” according to information provided by federal authorities.
